State Legislative Tracking Action Network (STAN)

STAN (State Tracking Action Network) is not just a bill tracking system that tells you what happened to the bill. STAN provides a "political outlook" for each priority bill and predicts future action so units can make informed lobbying decisions.

To make these predictions, information is gathered from state legislators, staff and government affairs professionals at each of the state capitols. For example, if an onerous bill for our industry is introduced, before a unit sounds the alarm and calls out the troops, STAN will provide background on the author's committee assignments, seniority and leadership positions, as well as the bill's likelihood for movement to help units decide on the best course of action. If the author is a freshman assemblyman from the minority party, the bill's chances may not be as strong as if a committee chair introduced the bill. This kind of knowledge will help state units make the most out of their government affairs efforts.

Here are just a few highlights of what STAN can do:

  • Accessible through ACA Online. When unit presidents, legislative chairs and professional staff log in to ACA Online, they will have access to STAN's electronic database monitoring key bills in all 50 states.
  • Interested in state legislation that may affect the business practices of the credit and collection industry, such as limited access to personal identifiers, limitations on communicating with consumers or proposed sales tax on services? STAN is your best resource.
  • STAN provides a "political outlook" for each priority bill and predicts what will likely happen to the bill so units can make informed lobbying decisions.
  • STAN is incredibly user-friendly and interactive. Search for legislation by state or by topic. STAN is your eyes and ears in all 50 states. Unit leaders have the ability to post messages about specific bills.
  • Timely E-mail Alerts: Each week, an e-mail report will be sent to unit presidents, legislative chairs and professional staff with updates on bill status, committee hearings and amendments.
